Touring turned him into a headliner. In January 2026 he reportedly sold out three nights at Madison Square Garden. Then came an even bigger date in Philadelphia. We cover that below.

His rise shows a simple pattern. He kept touring. He kept writing. He kept releasing material on his own terms.

Why Was Shane Gillis Fired From SNL?

Saturday Night Live fired Gillis in September 2019 over old podcast clips. In those clips he used racial slurs and mocked Chinese people. They surfaced days after NBC announced his hiring.

The timeline was short. SNL announced him in mid September 2019. The show let him go within days. Gillis later said his jokes were meant as dumb, offensive comedy. Many viewers still found them harmful.

The fallout split the public. Some said the clips deserved punishment. Others felt the firing went too far. The debate never fully faded.

He did not disappear. He kept the podcast going. He kept touring. Then SNL invited him back as host in February 2024. He hosted again in 2025.

On October 10, 2026, he hosted for the third time. Rosalía was the musical guest. His monologue drew heavy criticism from some public figures, including actor Dan Levy. Other fans cheered it. The White House also reacted, according to Newsweek. The old controversy had returned, but his stature was far larger this time.

Shane Gillis Netflix Career and Beautiful Dogs Special

Netflix gave Gillis a national stage. Beautiful Dogs was his first big Netflix special. It showed his full comic range. Many viewers met him there.

Then came Tires. Gillis co created the comedy series with John McKeever. It follows a chaotic auto shop near Valley Forge. Gillis stars alongside Steve Gerben.

The show started as a self financed pilot. It grew into one of Netflix’s steadier comedies. Season 1 passed four million views in its first days, according to reports. Seasons 1 and 2 both reached No. 2 on the US Top 10.

Season 3 dropped all 12 episodes in August 2026. Netflix said it earned the show’s best global English TV ranking yet. It hit No. 5 for the week of August 17. Bobby Lee joined the recurring cast.

Netflix has since renewed Tires for Season 4.

Shane Gillis Movies and TV Shows

Tires is his biggest screen credit. It carries his writing and acting. It also shows his taste for working class stories.

Beyond that, Gillis has done guest spots and specials. Gilly & Keeves: The Special highlighted his bond with McKeever. His SNL hosting nights count as major TV moments too.

Screen work is still a small slice of his career. Stand up and podcasting remain his core. Still, Netflix is raising his acting profile. A bigger film role would not shock anyone.

His credits so far:

• Tires (Netflix series, co creator and star)
• Beautiful Dogs (Netflix special)
• Live in Austin (stand up special)
• Gilly & Keeves: The Special
• Saturday Night Live (host, 2024, 2025, 2026)

Shane Gillis Podcast and Social Media Presence

Matt and Shane’s Secret Podcast is the engine behind his fan base. Gillis and Matt McCusker started it around 2016. The tone is loose and rude. Guests and inside jokes fill each episode.

Episodes run on YouTube and major audio apps, including Apple Podcasts. A Patreon page adds bonus content for paying fans. That direct link between creator and audience is powerful.

Instagram and X carry short clips and show dates. YouTube holds long clips and specials. He posts less than many comedians. Fans say that makes each post feel like an event.

The podcast also shaped his career after SNL. It kept him close to fans when TV doors seemed closed.

Shane Gillis Net Worth, Salary and Income Sources

Shane Gillis net worth in 2026 is estimated at about $16 million. That figure comes from several recent outlets. It is still an estimate. No audited number exists.

The higher numbers fit his recent boom. A stadium show, three Garden dates, and a hit Netflix series all add up. When fans ask what is Shane Gillis net worth, the honest answer is a range. The $16 million estimate is the most current.

Many fans search Shane Gillis networth after big news. The answer shifts with each tour. For context, one report lists Dave Chappelle near $70 million. Gillis is far behind that mark but rising.

Income source	What drives it
Live touring	Ticket sales across 100+ headline shows
Netflix	Tires and his specials
Podcast and Patreon	Subscriptions, ads, and live events
Sponsorships	Brand deals such as Bud Light
Hosting and acting	SNL and other screen work

Touring is the biggest driver. Over a million tickets sold in two years is huge. Costs for crews and venues are also high, though. So gross sales don’t equal take home pay.

His annual income is not publicly confirmed. Any exact yearly salary figure is a guess.

Young comics now copy that playbook. They build audiences online first. Then they sell out rooms.

Impact on stand up is clear too. Stadium comedy was once rare. His Philadelphia night proved that big venues can work for one comic.
